The Cherokee K-12 is the largest school project in the state with 400,000 sq ft under roof. The school campus consists of four buildings, pavement features for automobiles and buses, and athletic fields including a football stadium with a press box and bleachers. KEG performed a supplemental geotechnical investigation that included providing subsurface data collected by excavating a series of test pits throughout the property. KEG also performed soil test borings, triaxial shear tests and consolidation tests to further evaluate the subsurface conditions. Additional construction consulting and testing services are being provided during the earthwork and building construction phases of the project which include soil, concrete, masonry, structural steel and pavement base course and asphalt testing. This project is the largest school project in the history of Western North Carolina.
