Kessel Engineering Group provided construction testing services during site grading and pavement construction for the approximately 73 acre mixed use development. Our representatives monitored and tested fill material being placed for building pads and pavement areas, as well as testing backfill for modular block retaining walls and utility lines. We quantified unsuitable soils, organics, rippable rock, and blast rock. During pavement construction, we performed testing on subgrade soils, aggregate base course, concrete for curb-and-gutter, and asphalt. The grading contractor had 2 mass grading crews, 4 utility crews, and a retaining wall crew all working simultaneously which required 1 to 2 full-time on-site technicians in order to meet the testing frequencies outlined in the project specifications.
